IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you are at least age 70 ½ and have an IRA, there is a special section in the tax code just for you. A Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD, allows anyone aged 70½ or older on the date of the contribution to donate up to $100,000 annually to a qualified charity from their IRA without counting the amount as taxable income.
Since this $100,000 limit is per taxpayer, a married couple could each give $100,000 from their respective retirement accounts. While this provision has been in the tax code since 2009, it has become much more significant due to the 2017 tax changes. The QCD can satisfy all or part of any Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
Funds will need to be transferred directly from your IRA to Compassion in Action for it to count as a tax-free transfer. Your IRA administrator can send a check directly to Compassion in Action from your account. CinA will send you an acknowledgment of the gift for your records. IRA Charitable Rollover gifts are not tax-deductible donations. Please contact us at [email protected] or call us at if you have made a gift, so we can be sure we have your correct contact information and the funds are designated correctly.

2021 Goal: Raise Teacher Salaries
We care deeply for our students, and the staff are more than our coworkers; they are our friends.
Will you help us alleviate the financial stress that our employees feel – and that affects their families, health, and ability to concentrate on teaching by committing to a monthly donation? The Nicaraguan government recommends a wage of $460/month to cover the basic needs of a family of four. At the moment, our highest-paid staff make only $250/month (plus benefits). Our goal is to increase salaries for each teacher, cook, custodian, and guard by $100/month.
Dario Christian Academy is working hard to become self-sustainable. At the moment, 40% of the school’s payroll and bills are raised in Nicaragua. However, your donations allow us to remain committed to our original purpose of providing quality education to those who otherwise couldn’t afford the Christian education we offer.
We want our school to make a real difference in our community, and it does: our students feel loved and challenged to grow. We pour into our students, emotionally, academically, and spiritually. We’re there for our students. Will you be there for our staff?

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
