What we do
Compassion in Action has constructed and operates an elementary and secondary school in Ciudad Dario, Nicaragua called Dario Christian Academy. We provide a quality elementary and secondary Christian education for over 380 students. This includes opportunities to develop talents and gifts in art, music, chess, technology; and an inclusion program for special-needs students.
The personal attention (we cap classes at 34 students), dedication to see all students progress, and our emphasis on developing teachers’ pedagogical and classroom management skills is in direct contrast to the type of education offered by local public schools. To the detriment of their students, public schools often have student teacher ratios of 50:1, students are indoctrinated with the ideology of the current government, those with learning difficulties or behavior issues often drop out at an early age or are given passing grades even without having learned the material, and classes are often conducted without order, quality, or personal care.
We encourage our graduates to continue their studies in university and we are proud of the many alumni who are pursuing careers in education, medicine, law, engineering, and accounting. Graduates from Dario Christian Academy have reported that they have been well-prepared for university coursework. Our goal is that our graduates would be equipped to provide for their families through careers that are fulfilling and glorifying to God.
We emphasize the importance of each student developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as we start each day with prayer, teach through a Christian worldview, and encourage spiritual growth through mentoring and discipleship programs. Our belief that the Gospel will promote and sustain spiritual, physical, and vocational well-being is the foundation of all we do.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
