Celebrating Our Second High School Graduating Class

Dario Christian Academy celebrated it’s 2nd High School Graduating Class on December 9th as well as the graduation of pre-schoolers into Kindergarten & 6th graders moving on to High School. It was an honor & a pleasure for me, my son Rocky and daughter Holly to be the first to congratulate each of the graduating students and their parents as they crossed the stage to receive their diplomas from Directors Narlly & Julio Mendez. This was the first graduation held in the new auditorium. The staff of DCA, through their talents & resourcefulness, turned this auditorium into a beautiful setting for the graduation ceremonies.

[Editor's Note: Due to his incredible outpouring of love and support toward the ministry and families of DCA, the students and faculty established that their graduation should be dedicated in honor of Roxanne's husband, Ric Martinez, who went to be with our Lord in 2012]

It was standing room only as many of the friends and families of the students turned out to witness this wonderful ceremony. Because most children in Nicaragua drop out of school before high school, this was a really big deal to have so many students graduate from high school and many more move on from 6th grade into high school. Dario Christian Academy has become so well respected within the community that there is a long waiting list at every grade level of students wanting to attend.

Fifteen students were in the 2012 DCA High School Graduating Class - 10 young ladies and 5 young men. The top student was Denia Lilliam Mendoza Centeno. Denia wants to study medicine at the University so we are requesting prayer for her to receive a scholarship in order to be able to continue her education. Guillermo Josue Bustillo Mendoza was honored with the Leadership Award.

The top students for each grade were honored during the graduation ceremonies as follows:

1st grade Pedro Joaquin Valle Torres
2nd grade Janerys Belen Bravo Arauz
3rd grade Marling Lorena Juarez Mendoza
4th grade Denisse Nicole Rojas Castellon
5th grade Hector Lisandro Torres Matamoros
6th grade Yasir Ignacio Lopez Parrales
7th grade Singrid Laleshka Treminio Flores
8th grade Enexy Dayana Treminio Ruiz
9th grade Brian Ernesto Espinoza Vicente
10th grade Maria Concepcion Alarcon

Having been involved with Compassion in Action and Dario Christian Academy since my first Mission Trip in 2007, it has been so wonderful to watch the growth in the school, staff & children of Dario Christian Academy. God is doing some really amazing things there in Dario and using DCA to further His kingdom in Nicaragua.
